Fast Fashion Real Talk
loving these tidbits of advice from The Zoe Report on practical ways to ween yourself off fashion fashion. we all know fast fashion is like junk food, but just like flamin' hot cheetos, it's easy to get hooked. here are a few alternatives to motivate you to swear off the junk forever.
#1 !!! support emerging designers - heaps of new designers are launching every season at all different price levels. support them directly by shopping on their websites where they often have great deals too.
from zoe report:
- creative closet shopping + alterations
- swap parties
- consignment - I follow Eva Gentry on instagram so I can shop right from my feed
- vintage - i heart Feathers in Austin - you can shop from their blog and avoid insane NYC vintage markups. southern vintage is where it's at.
- shop smarter -2- live with less. quality vs quantity. invest in high quality products from designers you want to support and you will always feel good wearing that item over and over. added benefit: this makes dressing easier if your closet contains fewer but more desirable items. wait for sales, sample sales, and sign up for sale alerts on the designer items you can't justify buying at full price. unfortunately, the fashion calendar forces buyers to buy off season (and often too much) which makes it easy for us to find weather appropriate clothing on sale :)
